2018 Oscars 90th Academy Awards Live

The 2018 Oscars air live nationwide on Sunday, March 4 from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET on ABC. The 90th Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel (“Jimmy Kimmel Live”). He was invited back to emcee after doing an outstanding job last year, especially in those chaotic closing moments after Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced that “La La Land” had won Best Picture when it was really “Moonlight.”

Those two Oscar winners have been invited back for a do-over. They will be presenting Best Picture again, which we are predicting will go to Martin McDonagh‘s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”  Our exclusive odds — which are based on Oscar predictions by 30 expert journalists, our in-house team of 7 editors and thousands of readers — also forecast that the film’s star, Frances McDormand, will win a second Oscar for her searing performance as a woman coming to terms with the murder of her daughter while Sam Rockwell will take home his first for his raw portrayal of a racist cop.

Two other movies are also tipped to win three Academy Awards. The fantasy film “The Shape of Water” will claim Best Director (Guillermo Del Toro), production design and original score while the WWII epic “Dunkirk” will win for film editing and both sound awards.

Another film set in the early days of WWII, “Darkest Hour,” will win Oscars for leading man Gary Oldman and the makeup and hairstyling team that transformed him into Winston Churchill.

“Blade Runner 2049” will win a long-awaited Oscar for cinematographer Roger Deakins, who is 0 for 13, and Best Visual Effects.

“Coco” will take home both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”).

Four films will win a single Oscar apiece: “Call Me By Your Name” (original screenplay), “Get Out” (original screenplay), “I, Tonya” (supporting actress, Allison Janney), “Phantom Thread” (costume design).

Three of last year’s four acting champs are set to return to the stage of the Dolby Theater to present: leading lady Emma Stone and supporting players Mahershala Ali and Viola Davis. In the wake of the #MeToo movement, Best Actor winner Casey Affleck decided to forego the tradition of returning to give out the Best Actress award. In his place will be two past winners of that award, Jodie Foster and Jennifer Lawrence.

Among the other past Academy Awards winners presenting are Sandra Bullock, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaugheyRita Moreno, Lupita Nyong’oEva Marie Saint and Christopher Walken.
